3 Top Strengths in Action
As per the Better Up whole person strengths assessment, my top three leadership strengths are:
Influence – Inspiring Leadership: I possess the ability to persuade and garner support, using logic and evidence to convey my perspectives. An instance of this is evident in a recent team meeting where I successfully advocated for a change in our departmental process, ultimately enhancing task delegation and lightening the workload for all involved.
Feedback – Constructive Feedback Provider: I excel in providing constructive and positive feedback that supports individual and collective growth within the team. For instance, I adopt a goal-setting approach and engage in regular feedback sessions to assess progress and address challenges collaboratively.
Problem Solving – Strategic Issue Resolution: I exhibit proficiency in strategic problem-solving, viewing challenges as opportunities for growth and progress. An example is my leadership role in developing an inventory system in a past job, where I initiated a plan that significantly influenced the project’s direction.
My leadership style incorporates a combination of these strengths, reflecting my personality and communication skills. The ability to influence, provide feedback, and problem-solve contributes to effective team leadership, exemplified by instances of standing up for ideas and initiating positive changes in processes.
Personal Leadership Statement
My personal leadership statement is: “I strive to create an engaging atmosphere that empowers all team members to learn and grow, using positive influence, constructive feedback, and supportive problem-solving. This fosters an environment of growth and respect.” This statement is reinforced by additional leadership qualities such as empathy, excellent communication, and an understanding of individual team members, aligning with the strengths identified by Better Up.
Who I am When I’m at My Best
Feedback from friends, family, and colleagues indicates that I am at my best when deeply engaged in a project aligned with my passion and purpose. This is exemplified in my dedication to education, where I maintain high levels of focus and commitment despite juggling a full-time job and family responsibilities. My best self is characterized by passion, drive, and a commitment to continuous learning.
