Online Management

The advancement of technology continues to transform how we communicate, particularly through social media platforms. However, managing personal privacy and the extent of self-disclosure has become increasingly complex in this rapidly changing digital environment. To protect my personal information from potential exposure by third parties, corporations, or cybercriminals, I apply Communication Privacy Management (CPM) theory as a guiding framework (Nickerson, 2020). CPM provides insight into the processes of controlling personal information and understanding the risks associated with online self-disclosure.

For example, by implementing CPM principles, I am able to clearly differentiate between what is appropriate to share in my personal life versus my professional life. This boundary-setting helps prevent inadvertent disclosures that could compromise privacy. In practice, this includes controlling who can view my posts, limiting sharing of sensitive information, and regularly reviewing privacy settings. Consequently, CPM has allowed me to engage online responsibly while still benefiting from social networking, knowledge sharing, and professional visibility.

From an ethical standpoint, I contend that it is problematic for educational institutions or prospective employers to make decisions based on an individual’s social media activity. Social media screenings often lack objectivity and can unfairly influence decisions regarding admissions or hiring (Nickerson, 2020). Legal frameworks such as the Civil Rights Act (CRA) exist to protect personal online information from discriminatory use, and schools or employers who disregard these protections may be held accountable. Nevertheless, despite ethical concerns, social media remains a convenient tool for assessing qualities such as reliability, professionalism, and interpersonal conduct, which explains its continued use in screening processes.

PowerPoint Process

The process of creating a PowerPoint presentation has taught me the value of a structured and methodical approach. One of the key lessons I learned is that each slide should focus on a single topic, supplemented by lecture notes that provide deeper context. A coherent presentation should include an introduction, a body of main content, and a conclusion to ensure the topic is covered thoroughly and presented logically (Bright, 2018).

Planning is critical before designing the slides. Understanding the audience, conducting detailed research, and defining learning objectives allow for a more impactful presentation. Slides should be visually clear, free from grammatical errors, and presented in concise bullet points. For instance, when delivering a 10- to 15-minute presentation, it is advisable to include no more than three main points per slide to maintain focus and comprehension (Bright, 2018).

Transforming notes into an interactive class lesson using PowerPoint involves arranging key points logically and supporting them with analysis, examples, and discussion prompts. I avoid overly complex graphics or dense tables, instead opting for visuals that are simple, appealing, and reinforce learning. This structured approach ensures that instruction is smooth, engaging, and effective, allowing students to absorb information more readily and participate in meaningful discussions.
