Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to provide students with an opportunity to conduct a comprehensive cardiovascular assessment using a virtual patient. This exercise allows students to apply theoretical knowledge in a simulated clinical environment, enhancing their ability to perform accurate assessments, identify abnormal findings, and develop professional communication skills.

Directions

To complete this assignment, follow these steps:

  1. Access the Michael Granger Case Assignment in iHuman by clicking the “Load Assignment in a New Window” button located at the bottom of the assignment page. If prompted, select the option to load the case in a new browser window.

  2. Complete any prework questions related to the case before beginning the assessment.

  3. Conduct the virtual assessment by completing the following sections, which collectively account for 100 points. Immediate feedback will be provided for some components, while others will be graded by the instructor:

    • EHR Review

    • Health History

    • Physical Assessment

  4. Record your responses to all questions in the Nurse Notes section, which will be graded by the instructor (50 points).

  5. After completing the case, review your score and feedback in iHuman. Students have the option to retake the case one additional time before the submission deadline, allowing a total of two attempts to improve their score. The instructor will assign points based on the highest score achieved, with adjustments made to reflect the student’s overall performance.
