I have carefully reviewed the provided instructions, templates, and rubrics related to the four major components of the Direct Care Project. This review helped me understand the expectations for each stage, the grading criteria, and the step-by-step requirements to successfully complete the assignment. Familiarizing myself with these resources has provided clarity and confidence in planning for each section of the project.

Question 2

For this project, the target population I selected includes registered nurses (RNs) who work in high-acuity clinical environments. Specifically, my focus is on emergency department nurses who may not recognize the benefits of professional certification in their practice. I identified two RNs in the emergency department who had limited knowledge about the value of becoming Certified Emergency Nurses (CEN). This population was chosen because emergency nurses face demanding clinical challenges and frequently make rapid decisions that directly influence patient outcomes. Increasing awareness of certification benefits within this group can improve both patient care and leadership development.

Question 3

The most appropriate certification for the chosen target population is the Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) credential. This certification validates a nurse’s expertise in emergency care, including advanced knowledge of triage, stabilization, and treatment of critically ill patients. Nurses pursuing this credential must demonstrate mastery in managing life-threatening conditions, making evidence-based decisions under pressure, and applying clinical judgment in diverse emergency scenarios. Attaining the CEN certification also reinforces a nurse’s professional credibility and fosters leadership capacity within the healthcare team.

At this stage, I have not yet begun working on the Direct Care Project Part 1: Assessment and Diagnosis. Several areas require my attention, including the formulation of a problem diagnosis, examination of how certification enhances leadership skills in emergency nursing, and evaluation of the impact of certification on patient outcomes. Additionally, I need to summarize findings from a relevant scholarly article, locate peer-reviewed nursing research linking certification with improved outcomes and leadership, and further investigate the CEN certification process.

Do I have any uncertainties about the Direct Care Project Part 1: Assessment and Diagnosis? At this point, my primary concern is ensuring that my analysis effectively integrates evidence from peer-reviewed sources and aligns with the grading rubric. I plan to seek clarification from my faculty regarding expectations, particularly about balancing leadership analysis with patient outcome improvement in the assignment. I expect feedback from my faculty by Friday at 11:59 p.m. MT, through the comment section in Grades.

Although I initially felt overwhelmed by the scope of the project, reviewing the guidelines and reading scholarly resources has improved my confidence. I now feel better prepared to complete the project requirements, knowing that professional certification such as CEN directly contributes to enhanced clinical expertise, patient safety, and leadership growth.
