Happiness and Well-being Reflection

Reflecting on the potential for change in life is an essential aspect of decision-making, whether contemplating positive or negative choices. Acknowledging past mistakes has facilitated my personal growth, imparted valuable life lessons, and instilled in me qualities of patience and compassion. Every decision, irrespective of its nature, has played a crucial role in shaping my current life circumstances.

In the realm of Positive Psychology, which is a scientific and practical approach aimed at uncovering and enhancing individual strengths (Lopez et al., 2019), a holistic view of psychological well-being is emphasized. The Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) aligns with this perspective by posing questions framed positively, yet encouraging consideration of potential negative viewpoints. This nuanced approach fosters introspection into both satisfying and dissatisfying aspects of one’s life.

Applied to personal and professional contexts, positive psychology considers both positive and negative facets of life. The SWLS, by promoting deeper reflection, allowed me to identify and appreciate the satisfactory aspects of my life, fostering a sense of accomplishment. This realization aligns with the overarching goal of positive psychology — the continual journey towards self-improvement and the betterment of the lives of those around me.
