Final Preceptor Evaluation
Purpose
The Final Preceptor Evaluation is a critical tool designed to assess a learner’s overall performance throughout the practicum experience. The primary goal of this evaluation is to ensure that the preceptor provides constructive and objective feedback concerning the student’s accomplishments, professional development, and areas that may require improvement.
This reflective process benefits both the student and the preceptor by clarifying whether the practicum objectives were effectively met. Furthermore, it facilitates the identification of future professional development opportunities while reinforcing accountability and growth in clinical practice (Dang & Dearholt, 2018).
Instructions
The evaluation process is managed through the Medtrics platform. The evaluation form becomes available to the preceptor ten days before the due date, accompanied by clear, step-by-step instructions. Once the preceptor completes the evaluation, students can access it in the “Evaluations” section of Medtrics.
To ensure accuracy and completeness, the following steps should be followed carefully:
Access the Evaluation Form:
Students should log in to Medtrics, select “Evaluations” from the navigation menu, and locate their evaluation form.Review the Evaluation:
Within “My Evaluations,” students select “About Me” and then choose “View.” Here, they may review the feedback and include comments or reflections as necessary.Finalize Submission:
After reviewing, students scroll to the end of the document, select “Submit,” and add their electronic signature.Download the Evaluation:
A PDF copy can be generated by selecting the “PDF” option at the bottom of the page. Students are advised to save this file for their personal records.Submit in Canvas:
Finally, upload the downloaded PDF to the designated Canvas assignment portal.
It is important to remember that this assignment is mandatory but not graded. In case of any technical or procedural difficulties, students should promptly contact their faculty for clarification (Moran, Burson, & Conrad, 2020).
